Reflections on a Hell-bent Youth: 2 – The next Step

Rumor had her a virgin. He stepped over that threshold himself, a few months before on a warm night up-country in the tractor-driver’s hut. Mwala in an idle moment lasting half the day asked, ‘Done it yet?’ knowing full well he had not.

‘Not yet,’ said Harry, springing to attention in a dark place down there, bending forward hand-in-pocket to conceal in his khaki shorts a stalk of lust for a high-breasted coffee-colored coffee-picker in ragged homespun that hid nothing.  Worn by Kate Moss it would be high fashion.

‘She likes you,’ said Mwala, lounging against a tractor wheel.

‘That one? Bikira?’ He whispered in awe as she went by, arrogant as a supermodel, sunlight glinting off the four-sided drum of plucked cherries on her head for which morning’s work she would receive one sumuni – half a shilling.

Mwala shook his head. ‘No. Yes, she probably likes you, certainly likes you, perhaps even adores you, how could she not, ha-ha, ha-ha,’ forcing his face straight, ‘but she herself has not yet done it!  And would be worth many cows fewer if it happens before she marries.  No,’ he pointed with his chin, ‘Over there,’ at what could have been Bikira’s mother, a Kamba woman with leathery breasts, soon to be bouncing on top of Harry on a rickety African bed like a squeaky trampoline.

Mwala put his head round the drape before he finished.

‘Everything good, young man?’ Firelight reflected off his broad copper-skinned face.

Harry’s ancestors had their consummations witnessed, but that thought came later. Mwala’s pork-pie hat flung a shadow on the mud-and–wattle wall.  Funny, what you notice when it’s not just your mind on other things.

‘Yes, for Gods sake,’ Harry cried, jerking his way to the first hot squirt inside something other than his fist.  Well, not entirely true.  Horny young beast, he took advantage of little orifices encountered on his wanderings in the African bush: holes in rocks, forks in branches…why, one steaming day he even whipped two green plastic cushions out of the Jeep, placed them side-by-side on the ground and aligned his throbbing teenage manhood between.  Excited by the grip of hot plastic, he pumped to onanecstasy.

This was some decades before entering the world of tantra that elevates masturbation to meditation, a spiritual practice removed from the guilt-edged pleasures of boarding school where priests preached purity from the pulpit before sliding hands up altar-boys’ legs in the sacristy, settling in the confessional to hand out penance after eliciting the fullness of the sin.

‘And how many times?  And did you take full pleasure?  Every time? And did you do it together?  And were you touching or just watching?  And how many of you together?  And did you climax together…Aaah!’ as with each question the words came faster and Father Confessor’s breathing heavier.  They swore they could hear his cassock coming up and his hand going down.

‘Did you think he was really wanking?’ said Piers Minor, later expelled for submitting a drawing of an anchor on the letter W in the competition for a new school emblem.  He ended up in finance, turning his hand to banking before being exposed, poetic justice.

‘Course he was.’

‘Father Feeley had a stiffy, I saw it.’

‘Yeah, Jones, bet you felt it.’

‘It’s only three Hail Mary’s if you do it alone.’

‘You don’t have to tell them.’

‘It’s supposed to be confession!’

‘Do priests confess?’

But back to the farm.  Next day, morning roll call, in front of the whole coffee-picking gang, some eighty men, women and totos, she presents Harry with two live chickens, a brown and a white hanging by their legs.  Everyone was laughing and he was burning.  Burning for more but he remembered feeling something wasn’t there, down there up-country in the bush, but at least now he knew where to find it, an experienced sixteen-year old ready to give a girl a good time.

Soon he found one looking for just that.  Or was it hope springing eternal like the joystick in his pants?

Reflections on a Hell-Spent Youth: 1 – First Kiss

Lean and intellectual, broad-minded and narrow-lipped, Meg Ryan haircut, but secretly I preferred Hedda’s little sister Betski, rounder-hipped, more succulent if you like, and I did, but at fourteen the art of deception yet unmastered with bated breath I screwed up courage and did it.

Lounging on hot towelled concrete by the pool at the school where our parents tortured the minds of budding morons, hers at mathematics, mine at French, neither subject much called for in the colonial wilderness of the nineteen fifties, we had spent the morning, in fact the week: really the whole of the summer vacation, inching closer.  When the touch finally came – I think it was toes – and didn’t at once retreat, my heart took up the hammer and started banging away like a jack rabbit.  But then I felt something else wanting to join the jack-hammer rhythm and it wasn’t the blues.

Those days of tight swimming trunks, ah the agony, the embarrassment, roll over quick, face down, press into the towel on the hot concrete, ah the pleasure, ah the shame, ah why can’t those big shorts be the things to swim in, ah can’t even stand up except there, no hiding place, can I roll down the grass slope for a quick jerk behind the bougainvillea?  But competition lurked and I knew if I left the scene Powerdive Pete would be at Hedda’s side before you could say Jack Robinson.  And Hedda was a prize not to be shared.

And it was my toe touching hers, mine, so I did it, hoping, praying, longing for one thing to lead to another thing and that roll down the slope would find us in clover, laying down and do it again.

You know when you’ve thought of something, some magical momentous moment, seeded by movies of professional lippy-suckers, watered by a thousand times imagined, nurtured in pictures in your mind, practiced on the back of your hand before doing something else with the front, and then, finally, in the fantasy of a glorious climax, you do it…

My Tai Chi Journey

Shadowy movements at dawn in the park, neither dancing nor fighting though to me it looked like both. My mother danced with Fonteyn and enrolled me in my aunt’s ballet school but I retired at five, so no competition for Billy.

The fighting came later, first at school whacking Fatty Barnard across the ring under the smiling Irish eyes of Father Paddy Noonan, then my chum James to win the Army Garrison title in Malta before being KO’d by a Marine in Hong Kong. Karate in my forties to get fit after a hernia op but longer recovery times sparring with teens and twenties retired me after four stubborn years.

The sun rose on a grace, a flow, on faces as serene as at prayer as they stepped and spun, spiraled and thrust: shamanic theatre enacted under the trees, celestial combat, rooted in Earth and played in the human dimension. Yang advances, Yin withdraws, Harmony prevails.

Learning the Way of the Hidden Masters gave a sense of reality to this ancient art emulating the heroes of yore, the warriors, the fighting nuns and monks. Master Ho explained it can be practiced at any age, for health, to enhance our protective energy-field, to strengthen our physical and energetic immune system, to connect with higher and lower forces on the spiritual path, for self-defense, or simply to harmonies with our environment and alleviate the effects of stress.

The double-helix spirals reunite the Yang and Yin forces of creation, to ebb and flow throughout the meridian network, feeding the organs that sustain our life. We open and stimulate the meridians, the energy-flow channels, enabling the bio-electro-magnetic force, Qi or chi, to come on full charge as we do the slow graceful form.

Healers and Martial Artists improve external Qi-projection and internal rooting. Meditators develop the rootedness to keep safe when practicing kundalini or astral projection in the higher meditations.

Tai Chi comes to us as a gift from the past, a way to create our own tranquility: “to keep our cool when all about us might be losing theirs.”

I was hooked! Thirty years later I still am, and have been teaching it for twenty. And now I am teaching instructors how to teach, how to carry this gift to others, and at the same time help ourselves keep well, happy, and serene.

The Look

kris deva north ws04Sitting quietly in the Tao Garden some years ago in the days when I wore the ‘guru look’ I noticed a young man giving me the keen interested glances of someone seeing someone he thought might be a kind of highly evolved spiritual being. I was cultivating the long hair and dreamy countenance of one with his mind on higher things and accordingly bedecked with bracelets and bangles, ear-ring and beads, clothed in kind of ethnic trousers and one of those side-tied shirts that lend an aura of peace and serenity, not to mention the sandals. I’d recently attended a Vipassana retreat too, so obviously was looking pretty holy perhaps even fully halogenically enlightened.

The bow, or was it even a half-crouch, with which the young man approached showed the immense measure of respect with which he had decided to endow me, or at least the presentation of me that I was offering to the world at the time, and his first words uttered as if in a cathedral or perhaps just in the presence of a cathedral spirit caressed my ego.

“May I speak with you?” he said, sounding like an American. Graciously I inclined my head. He continued “I feel I can learn many things from you.”
“How can I help you?” I said in a conversational tone and, of course, my normal English accent.
His eyes, lowered until he heard my voice, looked up in a startled kind of way. “Where are you from?” he asked.
“London, England,” I replied with a grin.
His face fell as fast as he stood upright. “London? England?” as if speaking in perverted commas.
I tried the gracious nod again but it bounced off the wall of indignation forming around him as he looked angrily at my clothes, my hair, bracelets, beads and sandals, and took a step back.
“I thought you might have been from….I thought I might have learned something from you,” he said like a child welched on promised icecream.
“Learned something like what?” I was curious to hear.
“Something, oh I don’t know, wise stuff. Yeah, some wisdom.”
“Maybe you have,” I said after him, as he walked away under his disappointed cloud, seeking a distant truth.

You know what they say: nowadays the westerners are wearing the robes, the gurus are driving the Mercedes.

I got my hair cut, chucked the ornamentation, bought cool gear in Waikiki boutiques, signed up for NLP with Richard Bandler. Nobody mistakes me for a Native American medicine-man any more.

Thank you, young man. I’m glad to have learned something from you.

The Criminal Element

How would you solve a crime using five-element diagnosis was the question posed by my colleague Sharon Eckman, she of (Bel)Shazzer’s Feast, leading me to thoughts of the criminal tendency of the Five Elements of Oriental Diagnosis. We have one more than the Greek Four, but they pretty much match, in your opinion.

And the criminals: what would their predominant element be? Predominant because we each and all of us are made up of all four or five. And then we must consider the elemental nature of the detective solving the crime so I’ve picked a few of the more popular.

And then the criminal seasons: what would you be more likely to commit in spring? Why are most burglaries done in winter? What would be the robbery season? And when for murder: September is the favourite month for starting wars. Or does institutional murder not count?

Let’s start with crimes of passion, crimes of the heart, and so Fire. The Earth element I think could work for poisoning because of its relationship with the organs of digestion, or should it be Wood that filters toxins? No, I think I prefer to keep Wood for crimes of violence: the associated emotion is anger. And Wood feeds Fire so that would go with passion. Metal is another candidate for poisoning, being the element of alchemy, although it could qualify for violence being the material of sharp instruments. But it’s also to do with money so let’s keep it for financial crimes such as fraud, embezzlement, bribery and corruption. That leaves Water, associated with fear: blackmail? Mugging?

In considering the crime we focussed on the negative aspect of the element. Should we go for the positive in the detective? Not sure: the positive of Fire is love and joy. There again, Fire also governs aspects of communication. How about Colombo? Wood is kindness and forgiveness, possibly with love and joy disqualifiers for the job. But Wood also covers decision making and detection is surely a series of micro-decisions. Why not Mickey Spillane? Earth is serenity: Magnum? Or Jessica Fletcher in Murder She Wrote? Metal could only be the master of analytics Sherlock Holmes. Water is the element of adaptability, turning from solid ice through colorless odourless tasteless liquid to steamy vapour. This one I leave to you: who would you pick?

Matching detective to crime invokes the elemental cycle of Control: Fire controls Metal (ask any blacksmith) so we’re setting Colombo to investigate fraud etc. So he usually does murder? OK, many of his cases are to do with the perpetrator making some financial gain. Metal controls Wood (snip snip the pruning shears): Sherlock for violence. Mickey Spillane for Wood solves poison, Earth. And should we choose Magnum or Jessica for blackmail of Water? (Mugging we leave to the police.) Who did you choose as the Water detective? He or She goes after the crimes of passion, Fire. Maybe Hercule Poirot for Water?

A moment of perfunctory research yields the information that rape and assault tend to occur more in the summer most everywhere. Other seasonal tendencies are localised. Where do you live? Have you locked your door and hidden your passwords, avoiding the need for detection?

I realise I have not answered the question. To do so would depend on the crime, non? Even if the criminal is not yet known. Of course if they were known it wouldn’t need so much detection, would it?

Talking Tantra, Talking Tabloid, Talking Dirty

Some nine years ago media people interviewed me, not to report what I had to say about my tantric notoriety but what they perceived their clientele wanted to hear, read or see.

My strongest taste of that was the Extreme Celebrity Detox TV series – click here for the lowdown – following which I got tabloided swinging mighty weights from my lunchbox and described as the ‘man who taught Rebecca Loos where to put her Jade Egg.’

In these interviews I made some discoveries about media use of our language. Pretending to be impersonal and discursive while retailing their salacity, they tweak the words to ‘sex up the sexy bits’  trying to sound like doctors.

Snips from interview from a TV series purporting to show interesting connections between sex and science:

INTERVIEWER: How do you have sex without intercourse?

ME: (thinking, what school did they go to): Solo cultivation together is one way…

INTERVIEWER: Solo cultivation?

ME: Sex with oneself. Solo. On one’s own.

INTERVIEWER: You mean masturbation?

ME: Well that can sound clinical to some people while for others the word has connotations of guilt and shame. We like to keep things light. We could say self-pleasuring or self-stimulation.

INTERVIEWER: People won’t know what you’re talking about. They understand masturbation. What about foreplay?

ME: Again, solo cultivation together, or pleasuring each other by hand, tongue…

INTERVIEWER: Masturbation?

ME: As I said….

INTERVIEWER: Is there any kind of stimulation other than masturbation?

ME: (thinking, interviewer must really like that word): Your scientist participants would concur that touch is only one means of sensory stimulation. Although probably the strongest in the sexual context, we have sight and hearing, smell and taste.

INTERVIEWER: But they all lead to masturbation, don’t they. Let’s move on…

Well now. It made me think of how tantrics distinguish their terms of reference both from the clinical Latin and those beautiful onomatopaeic Anglo-Saxon words alas considered (since the Norman Conquest) obscene. Our language is enriched by its corruption, as a pheasant becomes tastier from a few days hanging, or eiswein from frost-rotted grapes.

Another interviewer, ostensibly seeking tips to spice up (his) readers’ sex lives but not having bothered to read Tips on Taoist Tantra asked “What would you say to people who think tantra disgusting?”

“I’d ask them how they would like to spice up their sex life.” He’d only read the headline ‘Is it disgusting boring worthy and dangerous or can Tantra offer self-realisation by having a good time?’ The rest of the article would have answered his question.

Yet another, (something to do with “The Lost Art of Sex” – where do they come from?) asked me what was the most outrageous tantric practice? “Fucking corpses” I replied to stunned silence. They didn’t show that bit (Oi! saying it not doing it!) and only believed me when I was able to refer them to Svoboda’s book ‘Aghora: at the Left Hand of God’, and Arthur Avalon’s (pen-name for Sir John Woodroffe, a High Court Judge in Calcutta at the turn of the last century) translation of the Tantric Classics.

Talking Tantra:

Masturbation: Tantric: Solo cultivation/self stimulation/self pleasuring. Anglo-Saxon: Wanking, and many more tho’ some might be derivatives of Latin/clinical eg ejaculating=jacking off.

Coitus/sexual intercourse. Tantric: Dual cultivation/Congress/Clouds and Rain, Deep Diving.  Anglo-Saxon: Fucking, and many more: could ‘shagging’ be a derivative of Shakti (sanskrit: female tantric deity) sometimes depicted having sex with Shiva’s (male tantric deity) corpse?

Penis. Tantric: Vajra, lingam, Jade Stalk.  Anglo-Saxon: Cock etc (difference between cock and willie? one stands up and crows, the other’s cute and soft.)

Vagina, vulva (Latin word deriving valve – a valve being something of a one-way thing.)  Tantric: Yoni, Jade Gate, Golden Lotus.  Anglo-Saxon: Cunt

Testes, testicles Tantric: Dragon Pearls Anglo-Saxon:Balls

Semen Tantric: Heaven’s Dew (also used for menstrual fluid) Anglo-Saxon: Cum

The rest I leave to you. Let’s make a compendium. Or has someone already done so?

On its way: publication Valentine’s Day 2015  Tao of Tantra Part 2: Beyond Foreplay

A Victim of Avoidance

Travelling light a victim of avoidance saw the sun rise silvering coastal palms. Closing her eyes she drew in the light, illuminating the dark corners of her heart where lurked the bitterness of disappointment at being so let down. He had planned this trip with her, they had pored over maps and made reservations in the mundane dimension while her spirit danced in a dream of expectation.

She had known his feelings were not the same as hers but he had agreed to come with her, had even set tests of togetherness which she thought they had passed, time spent together at weekends and days and evenings, assessing their compatibility before confirming the trip, booking the tickets, telling her friends, even accepting his condition of celibacy – hard though she knew it would be following their many days and nights of intensity and passion but understanding, she thought then, his fear of commitment which he equated with sexual connection.

Her bitter regretting heart grew harder as the sun rose and dipped in the days and nights ongoing as she remembered all their moments, the picture of himself he had sent her signed Lover, the horoscopes he had referred her to, “…after a long period alone the time had come to be in a loving partnership again…”, the special connection between their zodiac animals.

She blamed him now, having at first tried to empathise and allow. But that time was enough and done, already! Why should she be so understanding in the face of being so very messed about even when the reason he gave for pulling out – just three days before they were to go – was to avoid messing her about?
“I just feel we’re going to fall out big-time” he had whined, adding “I don’t want to let you down. I want us to stay friends…”

Her memory disconsolately sauntered backwards over the months, from the moment she suggested going away together, to the moment he had finally agreed, saying, in that moment, he must be the luckiest man in the world that she, whom he had always thought unattainable, really wanted to spend that time with him, to the slow erosion of trust as he seemed to withdraw from her, calling her less often until not at all, until that final moment when he dropped his bombshell. She felt she had coped with that quite well, not letting him hear her distress at his tearful midnight phone call.

Could it have been helped? Could she have done anything to avoid the disaster which left her alone on a beach on a holiday made for two? Or had his mastery of avoidance led him inevitably to create situations for destruction of everything he had said he wanted from life, from a relationship, from her?

Wisdom crept by, bland sayings of smug detachment:
Everything is perfect
Its always for the best in the end
The most dangerous thing to believe is what you want to believe
To understand is to forgive
etc

But she could not forgive. Each solitary sunset reminded her and she could not let go. Her anger took root, grew and flourished. Her resentment swelled. She began to feel hate.

Thank God for music! Thank Apple for Ipod! Don’t go wasting your emotions…Heartbreak hotel…All you need is Love…

What is the point, she wondered. What is the learning experience? How to cope with Masters of Avoidance? or how to avoid becoming a Victim of Avoidance? What help is there from all the wise ones who have gone before? or is it all total bullshit?

I read her long sad bitter angry email. I was on a beach too, watching the same sun setting. What could I tell her? Not much really. Just that sometimes, thank all the gods divine spirits of the tao, that our humanity, our human-ness, has to overwhelm all the clever wisdom and enlightened words, sometimes we just have to feel like shit, and then get over it. Acknowledge the hurt, feel the wound, see the scars and yes, indulge in some good old-fashioned cathartic hate.
Feel it.
Get real.
Don’t deny it.
And watch out for Masters of Avoidance, lest you become one.
There will always be Love.
Let it be.

SMILE POWER

Power of Smile

The meditation of the Power of Smile is a great way to start the day, a meditation session, or any action which needs energy generation. The secret of the Power of Smile is it practices love, love for the self, love for all.  And when you love, you understand and forgive, isn’t that so?

Smiling to the organs and thanking them for the work they do will reawaken the intelligence of the body.

And a hand in the right place can make a difference to help crystallize the future.

You can go through the whole meditation, or just smile at an organ to energize it.

The Smile is one of the Most Powerful Tools for turning Stress into Vitality!

Smiling Heart

Think of someone or something you love.  Real or imaginary, memory or fantasy.  Someone or something you love, that or whom you love anyway, no matter what.  Notice the feeling inside you.

Place both hands over your Heart.  Imagine smiling at your loved one.  Then smiling at everyone you know.  Then at everyone you don’t know yet.

Imagine that smile rippling out through the universe and coming back to you.  Imagine smiling at your Heart.  Thank it for all it does to sustain your life, and imagine it smiling back at you.

Hold this position for a few moments, enjoying the feeling.

 Smiling Lungs

Think of a time when you showed courage, stood up for yourself or someone else.  Remember that moment, what you saw, what you heard, how you felt, any smells or tastes.

Feel where you feel the feeling in your body and place your hands there.  Then imagine smiling at your Lungs, remembering the courage, anchoring it the feeling with your hands on your body, so another time you need a bit of extra courage you can trigger that anchor.

Then smile at your Lungs, thank them for all they do to sustain your life, and imagine them smiling back at you.

Hold this position for a few moments, savoring the feeling.

 Smiling Liver

Liver is to do with kindness, tolerance and forgiveness.  Remember a time when you showed kindness.  Remember that moment, what you saw, what you heard, how you felt, any smells or tastes.

Feel where you feel the feeling in your body and place your hands there.  Then imagine smiling at your Liver, remembering the kindness, anchoring it the feeling with your hands on your body, ready to trigger that feeling next time you need to show a bit of tolerance!

Thank your Liver for all it does to sustain your life, and imagine it smiling back at you.  Hold this position for a few moments, relishing the feeling.

 Smiling Spleen

Spleen’s Element is Earth, along with Stomach and Pancreas, and is associated with Serenity.  Imagine yourself standing, grounded and rooted to the earth beneath your feet, able to stand your ground in any situation, whatever the pressure, whatever the stress.

Smile at your Spleen and be serene.  Feel where you feel the feeling in your body and place your hands there , anchoring it, ready to trigger that feeling next time you need serenity!

Thank your Spleen for all it does to sustain your life, and imagine it smiling back at you.  Hold this position for a few moments, tasting the feeling.

 Smiling Kidney

Wisdom, Gentleness and the Water Element are of the Kidneys.  Smile at your Kidneys and remember moments of gentleness and wisdom.

Smile at your Kidneys, be aware of where you feel the feeling and place your hands there anchoring it, ready to trigger that feeling next time you are called upon to share your wisdom or be gentle.

Thank your Kidneys for all they do to sustain your life, and imagine it smiling back at you.

Hold this position for a few moments, letting the feeling flow throughout your whole being.

A Smile makes someone happy.  Smiling at your organs keeps your organs happy, so every little cell in your body can be happy, every little cell in your body is well, and you’re so happy, every little cell, in your body is happy and well.

I sing that to myself as I go about my daily business.

‘Meditation always had bad branding for this culture — it seemed very hand wavy,’ says Evan Williams, co-founder of Twitter, ‘But to me, it’s a way to think more clearly and to not feel so swept up.’

zazen

Deep Meditation can dissolve physical and mental tensions that cause energy blockages and unhealthy Qi; can boost the energy of organs and glands; makes us more aware of our body and inner being.  Consciousness is rooted not only in the brain, but also in the vital organs and in a more subtle sense, in each of the cells.

We are often so out of touch with the body and emotions that we do not notice inner disharmony.

hair on fire

Meditation helps to get in the right mood but if time is of the essence just skim through the preliminaries.  You might find it worthwhile taking time out then to go through the process – it’s more likely to work better if you do!  And you could just dictate them into your smartphone to listen to later – not while driving or operating machinery!

zen policeman

It’s good to be comfortable – we’re not into ‘meditation pain’ here: but if that’s what you’re after check out Vipassana.  Those guys have some great techniques for making the most of discomfort.  We do more visualization: discomfort can be distracting.  Do I hear you say you’re not very visual?  What color’s your front door?  And how do you know that?  OK, let’s get on with it.

Sit comfortably, either on a straight-backed chair, or on the floor, spine erect and free, so not leaning on anything.  It’s all to do with energy-flow through the channels, or if you prefer, through the nervous system.

Preparation

Focus on the breath coming and going through your nose…

with your mind’s eye, look in front of you and see the sun…

and know that she is always there giving you life and light …

even if sometimes behind a cloud, even in the darkness of the night…

shining and smiling on you, giving you life and light…

keep your face always towards the sun and the shadows will fall behind you…

and now, breathe in the sunlight between your eyebrows…

breathe in the sunshine and let it flood your whole being…

with your mind’s eye, as you look inwards and upwards…

to a point at the top of your head …

to a point at the top of your head between your skull and your scalp…

that point between your skull and your scalp relaxes…

and softens…

and grows warm…

that warm, relaxing feeling flows down…

relaxing your crown…

the back of your head and your temples…

relaxing your forehead…

and now, relax between your eyebrows…

and the tiny muscles around your eyes…

feel them grow soft, and relaxed…

relax your cheeks, soften your jaw…

and release your neck….

and now, as your neck and throat relax, the tiredness and tension drain away…

relax your shoulders, the muscles soft and slack…

as you relax your back…

the muscles either side of your spine relax…

your chest…

your belly…

your hips and thighs heavy…

your legs, your knees, your ankles, your feet…

Rainbow Deep

Imagine a rainbow arching the sky…

look at the colors, and then, breathe all the way out, let your lungs empty…

then as they relax let the new air flow in like a tide…

and as it flows in…

then think of the number seven and see the color red…

I prepare to relax my body and mind…

see something red…

a red world…

I am more relaxed than ever before…

let your breath come and go as you count seven breaths of red…

then breathe out all the way, let your lungs empty…

then as they relax let the new air flow in like a tide…

and as it flows in…

then think of the number six and see the color orange…

something orange…

this is your physical relaxation number, the color six…

with your mind’s eye look inwards and upwards…

to a point at the top of your head, between your skull and your scalp…

and imagine it relax and grow warm…

and let that warm relaxing feeling spread down…

relaxing your temples…

your forehead…

and the tiny muscles around your eyes…

relax your cheeks and your jaw…

your neck and shoulders…

your chest, back and belly…

feel your legs heavy and all the tension flow out…

out of your feet…

out of your toes…

into the earth…

let your breath come and go as you count six orange breaths…

then breathe out all the way, let your lungs empty…

then as they relax let the new air flow in like a tide…

and as it flows in…

think of the number five and see the color yellow…

with your mind’s eye…

look in front of you…

and see the sun…

breathe in the golden light…

between your eyebrows…

into the crystal room and then…

let that light fill your whole being…

I breathe in the sunshine…

let the your breath come and go as you count five golden breaths…

then breathe out all the way, let your lungs empty…

then as they relax let the new air flow in like a tide…

and as it flows in…

think of four…

and green…

and the ancient healing forest…

green is the color of health…

and I am healthy…

let the your breath come and go…

as you count four breaths of cleansing green…

then breathe out all the way, let your lungs empty…

then as they relax let the new air flow in like a tide…

and as it flows in…

see the number three…

and think of blue…

blue is the color of love…

I love, and I am loved…

see a flash of blue sky…

let breath flow blue…

as you count to three…

flow breath slow…

as you count to two…purple…

all disappears into one, violet…

I am now at the deepest and most inward level of my being, deeper and more inward than ever before…

Passive Scene

Slowly count from one to three…

on the count of three snap your fingers and project your mind into a passive scene from nature, real or imaginary, memory or fantasy…

a beautiful place of peace…

1…

2…

3…

see yourself there, in nature…

see the colors and shapes and movements …

hear the sounds…..

smell the fragrances….

feel the textures…

look around you, in front, to the sides, turn around…

see what’s there, touch and feel and hear…

see yourself…

see your self in this beautiful place….

see yourself, relaxed and moving easily….

see your self, comfortable and at ease…

Screen of Your Mind

Look at the screen…

look at the bright screen in your place of peace…

look at the bright screen…

see yourself on the screen….

and now…

renewal and re-creation…

only you can know your full reality ….

only you can know the changes you want to make….

only you know all your resources …

you know your power…

reflect on what you want to change…

make a reflection…

on the screen in your mind…

and now, on that screen…

see the changes you want to make…

see yourself as you are…

and see all that you want to change….

show everything,…

everything you want to change…

show it on that screen…

see yourself…

watching yourself on the screen…

and seeing all that you want to change…

all that you want to lose…

all that you want to get rid of…

look, examine, and note…

what you want to let go…

see everything…

hide nothing…

all that’s to go…

see it, clearly…

on the screen before you…

and now!…

look at the screen, and see the image you want to change, yourself with everything you don’t want or like about yourself.  Some say you can’t change your height, weight or appearance but, in your Mind’s Eye, in your ME, you can be the YOU of your aspirations.  And who knows how that ME vision can seep into your cellular memory, even your DNA?…

Hit DELETE…See the warning… This will delete all your negative stuff  holding you back from being the being you want to be.  This action cannot be reversed.  Do you want to continue?…

You look at the Options…

Stay the Way You Are?  OR Be What You Want to Be?…

If you need to, take a moment to reflect on how you will be without the negatives holding you back.  Some of those negatives might provide safety, comfort, or a sense of escape…

Make up your Mind….

Make Your Choice!…

Go to Settings…

And Hit Restore…

Read the Pop-Up: Are you sure?…

Take a breath.  Think about it.  Really Think About It….

And if you’re really sure…

Hit YES!

The screen blanks…

And then fills with the image of you…

Yourself as you are, and as you desire to be…

you see…

yourself…

on the bright screen…

your self…

as you are and wish to be, the same…

you see…

your self…

in all your shining beauty…

yourself as you are and be…

you see…

your head is comfortable relaxed and at ease upon your shoulders…

your vision perfect your eyes so clear and bright…

your skin is clear your bones are strong…

your nerves are tuned and your muscles toned…

you are in perfect health and in tune with life…

and this is so…

as you see yourself…

in your garden…

looking at your screen…

the screen of your mind…

in your perfect place…

feeling the textures …

smelling the fragrances…

hearing the sounds…..

seeing the colors of nature…

seeing yourself there, in nature…

your perfect place…

where you can come any time…

to relax, to be safe…

to see yourself…

as you are would be…

and this is so…

your perfect picture…

of you, in beauty, power and glory!…

see what you see and double the size!…

hear what you hear and turn up the volume!…

On the count of 7, coming up slowly…

1…

2…

3…

refreshed, relaxed, revitalized…

your head comfortable relaxed and at ease upon your shoulders…

your vision perfect your eyes so clear and bright…

4…

5…

coming up slowly…

on the count of 7…

in perfect health and in tune with life…

6…

7…

and Smile!

Reframe Mindset for Positivity, Success, Creativity, Motivation, Organisation, Health, Happiness…

NLP Certified Practitioner Training.   NLP began as a healing therapy some forty years ago, to reframe the mindset, for positivity, or success, creativity, motivation, organisation, health, happiness… even if we have become used to strong negative beliefs since childhood.

Reframing mindset means to let go conditioned thought-patterns put upon us by others, to replace those thoughts with new more useful patterns to lead the life we want, think our own thoughts, reclaim our power.
We can feel the difference, and see improvement in communication, at home, at work, or out and about – social situations, sports, helping others for example.

I began this training because people on my courses said I was already using it.  I wanted to investigate what it was that they said I was doing.  I discovered that yes, I was already using some of the techniques in my teaching.  What I also realised was that using these techniques and more I began to gain what at the time I could only describe as amazing insights into what clients and students were saying, what they were meaning by their use of language, and what they were not saying in words but showing in their body-talk.  The training filled all the gaps.
I also learned how to apply these methods not just to understanding, but to give clients powerful tools they could use themselves to find ongoing solutions:  even if I don’t know all their issues I do know that at some deep level we have the resources to help ourselves.  Sometimes it takes just a little step, sometimes a giant leap.

NLP Intensive training is learning how to help others reframe their mindset to achieve ambitions, fulfil desires, and solve problems, in short to be more effective, and how to make a decent living at it if you so choose. Practitioner and Master-Practitioner qualifications are the internationally recognised Certificates of the Society of Neurolinguistic Programming.

If you want more information – and sharing an experience as I will be giving a demo – then come by on 27th March, 7pm to 8.30pm.  Or if you know you can make good use of a powerful and effective means of helping yourself and others, why wait?  Sign up now! to catch the early bird.
